Over the years many banks has started its operations in Iran. All Iranian private banks were nationalized and they became state owned from June7, 1979. All Iran banks are governed by the laws that were passed by the Islamic Revolution Council on September 25,1979. All over the capital of Iran there are more than 41 banks operating to cater to the demands of the clients. The name of some of the banks in Iran are as follows:
- Bank Saderat, Iran: It also means the Export Bank of Iran. Its operation started on the november13,1952 with three board of directors and about 20 employees. At present Bank Saderat has subsidiaries of 29 owned provincial banks. The bank was also blacklisted by America on 9th September, 2006 alleging that it transfers money to terrorists
- Export Development Bank ( EDBI ), Tehran
- The Central Bank Of The Islamic Republic Of Iran: It was established in 1960. The bank is responsible for designing and implementing the monetary and credit policies with regard to the general economic policy
- Bank Markazi Jomhouri Islam
- Banco Central Hispanoamericano, Tehran
- Bank Agricultural, Tehran
- Bank Fuji, Tehran
- Bank Maskan, Tehran

- Bank Mellat, Tehran: It is a commercial bank which is state owned. It was established in 1980.It is one of the largest commercial banks in the Islamic Republic of Iran
- Bank Markazi Jomhouri Islam
- Bank Melli Iran, Tehran: It is also known as the National Bank of Iran, established in1927 on an order passed by the Iranian Parliament. It is also the first Iranian National Bank
- Bank Of Industry and Mine: It provides facilities relating to trading.
