Hungary Currency



Forint (HUF) is the official Hungary currency. Hungary economy and business can not be imagined without transaction of currency. Tourists also need to get hold of the currency of Hungary once they reach the country.

Tourists in Hungary can exchange money through exchange machines set at all important junctions of the cities and towns in Hungary. Tourists should also keep the exchange receipts with them. The receipts are the legal proof of the currency exchanges in Hungary that have been done.

In Hungary, acceptances of travelers’ cheques are not very preferred. Cash and credit cards are widely accepted in this European country. After dining in the restaurants or taking accommodation in hotels, tourists can pay in cash. In many shopping centers, buyers can also pay in cash. Credit cards can also be used to make the payments.

With credit cards, people can draw money from the ATM centers or from banks. On weekdays, banks in Hungary remain open from 8 am to 4 pm. Even on Saturdays, some of them are kept open for customers. Among the credit cards, the mostly used are Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club, AMEX, JCB and EnRoute.
