The flag of United Arab Emirates was officially adopted on 2 nd December, 1971. The UAE Flag is made up of four colors, red, green, white and black. On the hoist side of the UAE flag there is a vertical red band. Supported on this band are three equal horizontal bands of green, white and black respectively from top downwards. Each of the four colors is representative of the Arabic world. Green stands for fertility, white for peace and neutrality, black for the oil wealth of the country and red represents the former flags of the Kharijite Muslims. All the four colors in the UAE flag together stand for Arabian unity.
