The Inca Empire under the rule of Tupac Yupanqui, who was the successor of Inca Pachacuti, invaded and captured Ecuador in the 15th century, and marked the beginning of an important phase of Ecuador History.
The Inca Empire
One of the biggest and modern empires of America, the Inca Empire was discovered by the Europeans. The Empire conquered many different parts of the American continent and stretched from the north of Ecuador to the central Chile. The Incas came from the “Peruvian highland tribe” and it reached to the pinnacle of its success in the 15th century.
Invasion of Ecuador by Incas
The capture of Ecuador did not proved to be very easy for the Incas. The Ecuadorians in different parts of the country put up a brave fight against the Incas, before surrendering to the latter. The Canaris and the Caras put up strong resistance against the Incas, but ultimately had to submit to the brutal and violent attacks made by the Incas.
End of Inca Rule in Ecuador
After the death of Tupac Yupanqui, the leadership of the Inca Empire was passed on to his son Huayna Capac. Again after the death of this ambitious ruler, the empire was passed over to his two sons, Atahualpa and Huascar. This led the empire to be divided into two separate parts which ultimately resulted in the weakening and disintegration of the Inca Empire.
Finally, the Inca Empire in Ecuador was invaded and taken over by the Spaniards that indicated the end of Inca rule in Ecuador.
