Cameroon had its first university in the year 1962. Established at Yaounde, the University of Yaounde is the first premier institute of the country offering higher education to the students. Students from all parts of the country came to study in this university of Cameroon. Over time, University of Yaounde( UNIYAO) has expanded nada large number of students have taken admission in this institute. This
University of Cameroon has introduced few satellite centers for facilitating the higher educational system in Cameroon. Following is the list of state universities of Cameroon:
- University of Buea
- University of Yaounde I
- University of Yaounde II
- University of Douala
- University of Dschang
- University of Ngaoundere
Presently, there are eight universities in the country of which six of them are owned by the state. The other two universities are run privately. The private universities of Cameroon are:
- Bamenda University of Science and Technology
- Catholic University of Central Africa (Yaounde) and others
The
University of Dschang in Cameroon is an important institution of the state and offers courses in human science, science fundamentals, agronomy and agriculture. The International Institute of Cameroon provides the facilities of extensive training and research works in the fields of international studies. The students can avail the training in three different cycles namely, diplomatic refresher course, professional post graduate and doctorate course.
