Targu- Mures is a city situated in the county of Mures in Transylvania, Romania. The city of Targu- Mures was first recognized in the year 1332 in the papal registry with the name Novum Forum Siculorum.

In the year King Matthias Corvinus acknowledged the city as an imperial settlement. In the year 1616, the city became a municipality and then only the name of Targu- Mures came into existence.

The population of Targu-Mures is 149,588. The majority of people staying there are Romanians followed by the percentage of Hungarians. The city has attractive tourist spots such as Roses Square, the City Fortress, and Cultural Palace.
