Amara is a town located within the county of Lalomita in Romania. More precisely the town of Amara is located in Baragan along the shores of Amara Lake, which is situated at a distance of a few kilometers north of Slobozia,

the capital of this county. Till 2004 the town of Amara’s population comprised 7,743 people.

The town of Amara experiences a continental low land climate having warm and hot summers. The temperature during the month of July rises above 22 degrees Celsius. The winters are cold with northeasterly winds. The temperature in the month of January falls up to minus three degree Celsius. The summer season faces less amount of rainfall. The latitudinal and longitudinal extension of the Amara town is 44° 37′ North and 27° 19′ East respectively.

There are many towns and cities in the north, east, west, and south of the town of Amara. They include Slobozia Noua, Paltinisu, Slobozia, Motilva and Smirna. Some of the airports located close to the town of Amara in Lalomita County are Lanca, Fetesti, Boboc, and Silistra Polkovnik Lambrinovo.
