The study of Yemen Government and Politics throws light into the activities of the political units of the country. Yemen mainly follows the model of a presidential representative democratic republic. Here, the President is the head of the state as well as the head of the government. Though it is said that Yemen encourages a multi-party system, actually it is controlled by a single party. The country of Yemen is currently dominated by the General People's Congress.
The Yemeni government specifically executes the executive power and the legislative power is given to parliament as well as the government. It is said that the Judiciary works independently, however, the executive branch also interferes in its activities.
Yemen features a bicameral legislature comprising the House of Representatives and Shura Council. It is indeed a significant characteristic of the Yemen Government and Politics. According to the constitution, the president along with the 301 elected members of the house and 111-member of Shura Council executes the real power.

Yemen Government mainly aims at the all-round development of the country dwellers and works under the 1991 constitution. However, later in 1994 and 2001, this Yemeni constitution underwent significant amendments. According to the constitution, the Yemeni president should be elected by the popular vote. The president, on the other hand, appoints the prime minister.
