United Arab Emirates Land and People



United Arab Emirates land and People refers to the population and geographical area of the respective country. United Arab Emirates is mostly a desert land ,which is located in the eastern part of the Jabal al Akhdar Mts. Persian Gulf borders it in the north,Saudi Arabia in the south and western part and in the eastern part the Gulf of Oman and Oman borders it.

United Arab Emirates is made up of seven independent states in the south eastern part of the Arabian peninsula. The country was long back known as Trucial States. In 1971 the country became totally independent. Emirate is actually a very small region,which is governed by a chief called Emir. Abu Dhabi, Al Fujayrah, Ra's al Khayamah, Umm al Qaywayn,Azman, Dubai and Ash Shariqah are the seven hereditary states which make up the land of United Arab Emirates.

Most of the people of United Arab Emirates are Arabs but significant number of Persians, Bangladeshis, Indians, Baluchis and Westerners also live here. The non indigenous people in United Arab Emirates are from the eastern and south eastern part of Asia. More than ninety percent of the people are Muslims and eighty percent of them belong to the Sunni class and the rest are the Shiite class. Four percent of the population are Christians and Hindu. Arabic is the official language but Farsi and English are also spoken by vast number of people. Some Asians in United Arab Emirates speak Hindi and Urdu too.
