The
Trinidad and Tobago constitution was officially recognized on August 1st, 1976 is an echo of the democratic spirit and the republican principles on which the nation was founded. The constitution was originally founded in the month of March in 1976. It came into effect by act No. 4 of 1976. The legal system of Trinidad and Tobago is laid down in such a way that the constitutional principles are followed.
The Part 1 of the Trinidad and Tobago Constitution deals with the various freedoms and rights of the people including protection of rights and recognition of the same. The other topics of chapter1 include the exceptions of law, the emergency laws and exceptions to some legalization as well as a general section.

The three main sections in the Constitution of Trinidad and Tobago deal with The State, the Supreme Law and the Interpretation. These make up the preliminary section of the Constitution.
