Trinidad and Tobago Government is a parliamentary democracy with the President as the head of the state. Maxwell Richards is the President at present. The country follows the Westminster format of governance. General elections are held after every 5 years to elect the members of the Parliament.
The House of Representatives has 36 members and the Senate House has 31 members, elected by the president. Both these houses have the legislative powers. The Prime Minister along with the Cabinet Minister have the executive powers.

The ministries in the Trinidad and Tobago government have the onus of taking care of the welfare of the citizens.
During any kind of crisis, it is the responsibility of the government to organize crisis management programmes that can provide defense strategies against various man-made and natural calamities. Welfare of the business sectors is also one of the most important services of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. It has to take care of the occupational health and has to customize strategies to prevent occupational hazards.
