EU Slovakia

Slovakia is a member of the European Union or the EU. The European Association agreement was signed in 1993, and came into force in 1995. Slovakia has henceforth been cooperative with the EU, and the accession into the EU took place in 2004. Since then, Slovakia has been involved in a bilateral and mutually beneficial relation with the EU, reaping several benefits out of the association.

The nation of Czechoslovakia split into separate nations of Czech Republic and Slovakia in the year 1993. Since that time, accession into the EU has been one of the major priorities of the Slovakian government, and they formulated policies and steps to achieve the accession. Their efforts bore fruit later, when Slovakia was taken into the EU.

Slovakia has followed a strong policy of all round development and improvement in its bid to join forces with the EU. It formulated strong economic reforms and strengthened its economic base. Agriculture was the major field to get a boost, and gradually it became eligible for accession into the EU. The European Association agreement was a great help in bringing about this association.

The association with the EU has been a rewarding experience for Slovakia. Not only has it benefited from being part of the EU's development plans, but it has also benefited from the close knit association with a number of other major countries of Europe. This has sparked development, and Slovakia are on the road to becoming an improved nation.
