Royal Regiment of Scotland is the oldest and popular Scottish regiment of the British Army Infantry.
Royal Regiment in Scotland comprises of five regular and two territorial units. Each army unit maintains its former regiments pipes and drums to follow on the tradition.
History of Royal Regiment of Scotland:
The Royal Regiment of Scotland was formed by the Secretary of State for Defence, Goeff Hoon from the House of Commons on 16th December 2004.
Royal Regiment of Scotland is the only one regiment, which maintains its own military band. This particular band was formed by merging the Highland and Lowland band of the Scottish society. The administration of this regiment is maintained by two territorial army units. In 1948 each regiment diluted to a single army unit. In 2005, the new regiment- cap badge was revealed that comprises of Saltire of St Andrew and the Lion Rampant. As a royal regiment the cap badge is honored by a crown as one of the best army unit.
