Saint Lucia travel is possible through the various means of transport, which help the passengers to get to and around Saint Lucia. There are two airports in Saint Lucia serving as the landing ground to several aircrafts. They are the Hewanorra International Airport and the Vigie Airport located at Vieux and Castries respectively. International flights like American Airlines, British Airways, and Air Canada fly down to Saint Lucia from other countries. Airlines like Air Martinique, American Eagle, Eagle Air, LIAT, BWIA and Helenair are some of the international airlines landing on the Viege airport. Thwere are also helipads for helicopters, which are also a used for touring Saint Lucia. Helicopter tours are arranged by tour operators of Saint Lucia.
Saint Lucia can also be reached by the waterway. Castries is the main port of Saint Lucia. However Vieux port is meant for cargo ships where loading and unloading is done. Cruise ships enter the port of Pointe Seraphine. Apart from ships, boats are used for traveling within the island. Boat rides are arranged by the hotels and resorts.
For land transport there are buses, cars carrying travelers to their preferred destinations. Cars or four wheeler vehicles need to be booked in advance. The rates of the vehicles depend on their type and the company renting it. Travelers willing to drive on their own, need a driving permit from the airport or police station or from the car rental office, by showing their original driving license. Some of the car rental offices are budget Rent, St. Lucia Yacht Car rental, Avis Rent-A- Car, National Car Rental and so on. Taxis and buses can also be booked beforehand. Taxis are available at the taxi stands and there is regular bus service in Northern Saint Lucia, Castries and Gros Islet. Bicycles are also rented for traveling to nearby places.
