Nauru government follows a democratic set-up where the elected representatives form the government. In the Nauru Government the President is the head of the state as well as the government. Nauru Government is a republican government with a parliamentary system. The Government has divided the country into 14 administrative divisions such as Yaren, Uaboe, Nibok, Meneng, Ijuw, Ewa, Denigomodu, Buad, Boe, Baiti, Anibare, Anetan, Anabar and Aiwo. These districts come under 8 electoral constituencies.
The 18 members of the parliament get elected every three years. The Cabinet is appointed by the President. Candidates, who stand for election, are generally independent candidates.
