Monegasque language is widely spoken in Monaco apart from English and French.

Monegasque is actually a dialect of Ligurian language in its modern form. It is quite similar to the language, which is spoken in Genoa but is actually different from other similar languages. The orthography of Monegasque is usually followed with rules of Italian language with following small differences:
- U of Monegasque is pronounced as that in German
- oe id pronounced as French e
- C is pronounced as in French

"Hymne Monegasque" is national anthem of Monaco written in the Monegasque language. It was written by Theophile Bellando de Castro in the year 1841. Later it was modified by Castil Blaze. Again in the year 1914 it was modified by Leon Jehin but the final editing was done by Louis Notari in the year 1931.
