Each of the islands exhibits different physical features and they range from low lying coral atolls to lofty mountain ranges. The islands of Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae include volcanic outcroppings. These islands occupy a small island in the North Pacific Ocean.

The Micronesian population is a composite blend of people from diverse backgrounds and adhering to different traditions and customs. Each of the islands has their indigenous beliefs. The people of the island of Yap are considered to be the most conservative.
