Government and Politics in Lithuania



The Lithuania government and politics are well related with each other. The Lithuanian government follows the rules of the parliamentary democracy and all the significant decisions taken by
the politicians form an important part of the government of Lithuania. The government consists of three branches namely, executive, legislative and judicial. The executive branch comprises of the president and the prime minister of the country and they are selected by popular vote. The judicial branch mainly consists of the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court. The government of Lithuania is headed by the prime minister of the country.

The major ruling political parties of Lithuania are Civil Democracy Party, Homeland Union/Conservative Party,Labor Party, Liberal Democratic Party, Lithuanian Christian Democrats or LKD, Lithuanian Social Democratic Party and many more. The party which wins the election forms the government of the nation. The members of the winning party hold important positions in the parliament.
