Laos Government



Laos Government is one of the few Communist governments that still exist. The President is the head of state and the Prime Minister is the head of the government. The National Assembly has got 115 seats. The Central Committee is consisted of 55 members and 11 members are present in the Politburo.

Laos Government has got district judicial department as well as provincial judicial department. The Supreme Court holds the maximum power. Lao People's Revolutionary party is the only legal party of Laos.

Government in Laos has divided the country into many administrative divisions that include 16 provinces, 1 municipality and 1 special zone. The municipality is Kumpang Nakon. The provinces are Attapu, Bokeo, Champasak, Phongsali, Bolikhamxai, Houphan, Louangphabang, Khammouan, Loung Namtha, Oudomxai, Savannakhet, Vientiane Prefecture with Vientiane capital, Vientiane Province, Xaignabouli, xaisomboun and the special zone is Xekong.

Government of Laos has made the country take part in various organizations like ACCT, ASDB, ASEAN, CP, ESCAP, FAO, G-77, IBRD, ICAO, ICRM, IDA, IFAD, IFC, IFRCS, ILO, IMF, INTELSAT, INTERPOL, IOC, ITU, NAM, PCA, UN, UNCTAD, UNESCO, UNIDO, UPU, WFTU, WHO, WMO, WTO.
