The children of Iceland have tremendous faith on Santa Claus. Thirteen nights before Christmas in Iceland the children put their shoes on their windows thinking that Santa Claus will put some candy or toys inside it. The first morning if they get something they become very excited.

The mother of the Christmas elves is Gryla. Gryla was considered very grievous in the early days as she boiled children in a saucepan. Her daughter had a Christmas cat that was very dangerous. Kids who didn't behave well and didn't get new clothes were caught by him during Christmas.
