Botswana Stock Exchange or the BSE is situated in the capital city of Gaborone. Established in the year 1989, the Botswana share market got transformed into the Botswana Stock Exchange in the year 1995. The Stock Exchange is under the jurisdiction of the Botswana Stock Exchange Act. There are almost thirty five market listings and three stock indices at the Stock Exchange of Botswana. The three indices are those of the Domestic Company Index, the All Company Index and the Foreign Company Index.
The All Company Index at the Stock Exchange in Botswana is a weighed average among the FCI and DCI. On the other hand, the Foreign Company Index incorporates companies that are listed both on the Botswana Stock Exchange as well as on other exchanges. The Botswana Stock Exchange allows the private investors to take care of ten percent of the total market capitalization.
The present CEO of the Stock Exchange at Botswana is Mr Hiran Mendis with the corporate affairs being managed by Ms Juliana White. Bopelokgale Soko looks after the listings and trade section while the finance and administration is handled by Boitumelo Bakwena. The Ministry of Finance in Botswana takes care of providing licenses to the brokers.
