Kismayo situated in the southern part of Somalia is on the coasts of the Indian Ocean. Kismayo in Somalia is famous for holding the highest number of wars in Somalia.

It is also the most important town and port of the Jubbada Hoose region. Sultan of Zanzibar founded Kismayo Somalia in 1872. From 1887 to 1924, it was under the rule of the Great Britain, after which the Italians started to rule the place. Due to Islamic rule over the place for a good long period, the culture and society in Somalia Regions have a strong influence of the Muslims. There are several Mosques in Kismayo in Somalia.

Among all the Somalia Regions, as Kismayo faced the highest number of wars, there were lots of ups and downs in the society of this region. Lot of conflicts came into the politics as well due to the wars. The wars led Kismayo in different hands. The Mareen, Darood, Habar Gidir and many more had influenced the government of Kismayo. Kismayo airport is one of the popular airports in Somalia and it also served the air force for quite sometime. However the airport is still served with a bad runaway. The airport is about 10 kilometer from the town.
