The Burkina Faso wildlife has attracted large number of tourists from all corners of the world for years. Rare species of mammals and birds can be explored in the region of Burkina Faso. A report of the World Resources Institute states that there is an existence of 147 species of mammals and 452 types of birds in Burkina Faso. The total forest cover of 10,405,000 ha (32.7% of the land area) in Burkina Faso has contributed to the growth of such a rich collection of Burkina Faso wildlife.

The Ministry of Environment and Tourism is taking positive measures to preserve this pride of Burkina Faso. They have developed wildlife reserves of an extensive land area and 12 national parks in Burkina Faso to protect the illegal wildlife hunting and deforestation. These measures of the Ministry have also helped the tourists to enjoy the sight of the wildlife of Burkina Faso safely and peacefully.
