Ilulissat according to the local language is interpreted as the town of icebergs. Ilulissat became significant when Ice fjord was added to the UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2004. The icebergs in Ice fjord are contributed by one of the important glaciers of the world called the Sermeq Kujalleq.
