In any country the role of the media is of utmost importance. It is through the media that people are kept informed of the daily affairs of the state and that of the World.
East Timor Media consists of both the print media and the electronic media.
East Timor Media includes radio, newspaper, Internet, Indonesian TV, other International television Channels. The most important
East Timor Media source is the radio. A good number of the Timorese rely on radio as a source of information besides newspaper and television.
The RTTL radio source is the most widely used radio station in East timor. In fact it is believed that it was the RTTL radio that was responsible for keeping the people of Timor Leste informed during the April May 2006 crisis. Radio at this point was very much in use in places like Dili, Aileu, Baucau. In Dili, Lautem, and Baucau a good number of the people read newspaper.
