After the brutal genocide in the year 1994 Rwanda is facing many problems as aftereffects. Thousands of women were captured and raped repeatedly by soldier. This resulted in Rwanda Aids. Aids in Rwanda is spreading fast and causing many deaths.
In the year 1994 when the conflict began between the Hutu and Tutsi tribes as a result of colonial impact it resulted in many problems. One such big problem was of health. Many people die every year of deadly disease like Aids. During the brutal civil war soldiers and supporters of Hutu group forcibly went inside the houses of Tutsis and raped the women several times after giving them horrendous physical torture. Aids in Rwanda soon infected men and women.
According to statistics around 250,000 people of Rwanda people are infected with HIV. Many bread winners of the family die leaving their children orphan and without any help. Life expectancy is also low in Rwanda. The average life of Rwanda people is 49 years.
Global Aids Program(GAP) has been introduced to create awareness in Rwanda people. Churches have also been asked to lend a helping hand by telling people more about Aids and HIV. United States has also come forward in helping Rwanda people overcome problem of Aids. The US President in 2003 started Emergency Plan for Aids Relief to benefit Rwanda people. NGOs are also coming up with their counseling and seminars to create awareness among people. Now pregnant women visit health centers for regular check up to avoid mother-to-child HIV transmission. People are being provided medication and counseling to fight Aids. Rwanda with the help of such programs and plans is fighting Aids.
