Some of the government-run hospitals in Nicaragua include names such as Aleman Hospital. The Baptist Hospital, located in Managua, is a reputed private hospital. Both these hospitals have separate departments for oncology, neurology, cardiology, and various other branches of medical sciences. In 2006, the government of Nicaragua passed a verdict that no public hospital in the country can overcharge the patients for any kind of medical service. This decree, issued by the Health Minister of Nicaragua Mr. Maritza Cuan Machado, aimed at providing subsidized heath care service in government hospitals and health centers.
