Nauru Climate


Nauru Climate is chiefly determined by the location of the island nation. Nauru geography is the main factor influencing the climatic conditions of the island. The location of Nauru in the South Pacific Ocean, near the Equator, results in the tropical type of climate experienced on the island.

The dry season in the climate of Nauru is accompanied by the easterly trade winds. The wet season begins from November and ends around February. The westerly monsoon winds bring in moisture bearing clouds to Nauru during the wet season.

The average annual rainfall on the island of Nauru is about 200cm. The only hazard in Nauru climate is the frequent droughts. The amount of rainfall on the island of Nauru varies greatly and droughts are caused. The temperatures of Nauru climate vary between 24 degree to 33 degree Celsius. The relative humidity recorded also remains constant at 80% almost throughout the year.

The climate of Nauru demands clothes that are light in weight and waterproof. The cottons and linens are suitable for use on the island. The conditions do not vary much and Nauru Climate is quite predictable.
