Namibia Economy

A reflector of the growth and development of Namibia, Namibia economy is largely dependent on various natural resources the country abounds in. From the time of the discovery of diamonds reserves in Namibia the country's economy has been dominated by diamonds. Along with diamonds the country is also rich in other minerals like uranium, silver, lead, gold, tin, copper, marble, granite. Mining and export of these minerals form the basis of Namibia economy.

Besides mining tourism, agriculture and fishery constitute major aspects on which the economy in Namibia stands. Mining in Namibia is the principal earner of foreign currency and forms one-third of the country's GDP. The tourism sector which is an important part of the economy of Namibia also generates a large amount of revenue. Another chief feature of Namibian economy is fishing. Agriculture though does not generate much income helps to provide employment to the people of Namibia.

Namibia economy is fast developing and is closely related to South African economy as the country was a former colony of South Africa.
