Malawi climate has the presence of rainy season between the months of November to April. The cool season in Malawi extends from May to July and the time period between Augusts to October is the dry season. Besides these major seasons, the overall weather conditions in Malawi are also influenced by the altitude and the lake.
The mountainous regions in Malawi that lie at an altitude of 1068 meters have their temperature ranging between 14.4° to 17.8°centigrade. The temperature experienced here is basically of a cool nature due to the high altitude. The rift valley areas in Malawi experience a very high temperature that may rise as high as 37.8°C during the warmest months. Plateau regions having an altitude exceeding 1830 meters often experience frost.
Rainfall in Malawi differs from one region to the other due to the difference in altitude. Rainfall experienced here in Malawi varies between 635 mm to 3050 mm. Rainfall in Malawi is quite well distributed though some parts do receive comparatively higher amount of rainfall. As such, the rainfall amount in Malawi is sufficient for farming. Besides, the range in climate has also made it possible to grow both tropical and sub tropical crops in Malawi.
