Although Kwasa Kwasa strictly follows the traditions of Rhumba, it differs a lot from Rhumba. In the Modern Music of Botswana, the rhythm is a bit slower than the original one, which goes to take a very rapid tempo by the time it reaches the middle of the song. Even though Kwasa Kwasa is the child of Afro Rhumba, its tempo and rhythm is less hectic than that of the latter. Botswana's Modern Music Kwasa Kwasa focuses more on the erotic movement of the hips and buttocks along with a simple leg routine, which is absolutely against the norms of Rhumba.
There are attempts being made for constructing the Modern Music Botswana in such a manner so that it becomes more rhythmic. One of the greatest artists of Botswana, namely, Vee, wa ga Mampela is trying to highlight his own version of Modern Music Botswana in the form of Kwaito Kwasa, which is a mingling of Kwasa Kwasa with Kwaito music.
