Life of Pi is an award winning 3D adventure drama film based on Yann Martel’s 2001 novel of the same name. Directed by Ang Lee, the film stars newcomer Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Gérard Depardieu, Tabu, and Adil Hussain.

The film revolves around a 16-year old boy named Piscine Molitor “Pi” Patel (Sharma), who survives a shipwreck in the Pacific Ocean and is stranded on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker.

At the 85th Academy Awards, the film won four awards, the most for any film this year, including Best Director, Best Score, Best Cinematography and Best Visual Effects. The film received a total of 11 nominations.
