Antarctica clothing is an important aspect of the Antarctica expeditions. The clothing at Antarctica must include a nice protection from the extreme cold climate of the region. Earlier Antarctica clothing was designed in such a manner that it provided a good insulation from the extreme climatic conditions of the polar region, ensuring mobility, comfort and ability to work. The earlier clothing system in Antarctica also had its insulating and windproof capacity, but no adjustment facility for insulation and the letting out of perspiration.
Now-a-days the clothing for the Antarctica regions is manufactured keeping in mind that the body should remain adequately warm, especially the fingers and the toes and free movement of perspiration is to be allowed, ensuring that the wearer can move easily and enjoys good comfort.
Cloths for Antarctica are stitched by combining several layers of clothing like the foundation layer, the insulating layers and the outer shell or layer. The fingers and toes as well as the ankles, knees and toes should be equally taken care of since they tend to loose a lot of heat due to their large surface area. The head must be covered as scientific studies show that 20% of the body heat is lost through head.
