If we go through annals of the history of Djibouti, we can find quite a number of Djibouti politicians, who had a great impact on the people of the country. Most of Djibouti politicians have taken great efforts to serve the people and they have been reciprocated with love and respect by the people of Djibouti. Most significant names among the politicians of Djibouti are:

• Hassan Gouled Aptidon- Hassan Gouled Aptidon’s contribution was great in Djibouti’s freedom struggle from the shackles of French colonizers. He served as the President of the country from 1977-1999, after Djibouti’s independence in the year 1977.He belonged to People’s Rally for Progress Party which was the only party that dominated Djibouti till 1992.He expired in the year 2006.
• Ismail Omar Guelleh- Ismail Omar Guelleh is the second President of Djibouti. He is the nephew of Hassan Gouled Aptidon. He was elected the President in April 1999 and again was re-elected in the year 2005 for a term of six years. He also belongs to the party of People’s Rally for Progress.
• Idriss Arnaoud Ali- Idriss Arnaoud Ali is the present president of National Assembly of Djibouti.
