Islands in Denmark

Aero Map

Aero is one of the most out-of the-way places in Denmark. It is a small island on the southern edge of Denmark. It is one of the most least visited areas of Denmark. This is the only town in Denmark which is preserved by law.
The capital, Aeroskobing is an exceptionally small town.

Aero was initially a rich port during the 1680's. The harbor now serves the German and Danish holiday yachts. The post office in the region dates back to 1749 and one can still find cast-iron gaslights in the streets. The Hammerich House is a place full of old junk which is a 1900's garage.

In order to reach Aero, from Copenhagen, one needs to take a train to Odense city, then another one to Svendborg town, then reach the place after a ferryboat ride.

Touring Aero on the bike is the best option as one would find many U-shaped farms near Vra. One can tour past the cluster of modern summer cottages named Borgnaes. There is a straight road leading to the ancient site of the rugged bluff called Vodrup Klint. One may even visit Tranderup, which is famous for its bell frogs, Sami-style tepee and happy little duck houses. One can visit the old town of Olde, from where you can also see the church, Store Rise, spire at some distance. Inside the church one can find a fine altarpiece and a statue of Martin Luther King. There are many burial grounds in Aero. The small island of Aero is a perfect place for relaxing. A visit to this place will make you realize the true essence of Denmark and the local population.
