Every country has its own flag having different colors and patterns. Rwanda also has its flag. The Rwanda flag has three colors and a design of radiating sun in in the top stripe.
There are three colors in the flag of Rwanda. The colors in Rwanda flag are: blue , yellow and green. Each color stands for a separate meaning. The blue color symbolizes joy and peace. The yellow color in the flag symbolizes the Rwanda's mineral wealth and development in economic field. The third one which is green symbolizes Rwanda's prosperity and natural resources. All the three colors are there as strips in a horizontal way in Rwanda flag. The blue stripe remains at the top followed by yellow and green. The blue stripe is the widest in the flag almost double the size of the other stripes and the rest two are of the same width. In the blue stripe of Rwanda flag there is a bright yellow sun at the right corner. The sun is shown radiating 24 rays.
Rwanda had a different type of flag before. Rwanda became independent from the rule of Belgium in the year 1962. The flag of that time was discarded following the genocide that took place in the year 1994. It was in the year 2001that the idea of current flag of Rwanda was accepted. The flag design was adopted by Alphonse Kirimbenecyo. The new flag design was liked by all.
