Luxembourg Flag



Luxembourg flag is comprised of 3 horizontal bands. The bands used are red, white and light blue in color. Red is used at the top of the flag, white in the middle and blue in the bottom. The ratio of the official flag of Luxembourg is 3:5 or 1:2.

The Luxembourg flag has got a similarity with that of the flag of Netherlands but the color blue is much brighter in case of the flag of the Luxembourg. The flag at Luxembourg has been designed on the basis of the flag of France. Though the national flag of Luxembourg has been in use since the year of 1848, but this flag was officially adopted on 23rd June, 1972.

History on Luxembourg Flag

It was during the great Belgian Revolution of 1830, that the colors of the flag of Luxembourg were adopted for the first time. However the tri-color of the flag was finally accepted on 12th June, 1845. After a long period of about 22 years, a law was promulgated according to which the Luxembourg flag was officially adopted.
