Egypt flag was officially adopted on 4th October in 1984. The national flag that represents the Arab Republic of Egypt has horizontal red, white and black stripes. In the white stripe, there is an emblem of an Eagle. This Eagle is associated with the Eagle of Saladin of Egypt. It is located in the middle of the Egypt flag. But sometimes a variation in the color of the emblem is noticed.
In 1923, a Royal Decree had introduced the national flag of Egypt for the first time. Later in 1958, a new flag was introduced. This flag was meant for the United Arab Republic. This flag was quite different from the present day Egypt flag. The two green stars that were introduced later in the flag were removed with an amendment of law in the year 1972. The golden hawk replaced the two stars of the flag. In 1984, the golden Eagle replaced the hawk.
The present day
Egypt flag used by the Government of Egypt has three colors. Before 1952, the red color represented revolution. However, White represented the Revolution of 1952. This revolution brought an end to monarchy in Egypt. The black color of the Egypt flag represented the oppression by the British and the monarchy that came to an end.
