The colors which are present in the official flag of Benin are those of green, yellow and red. These are the basic pan African colors. The pan-African colors refer to the Ethiopian colors, namely, red, green and gold or yellow. While the color of red represents the blood that the Africans, who are of African origin, must sacrifice for the liberty and the redemption of their race and community; the green color symbolizes the lush green vegetation of Africa.
The green color of the Benin Flag depicts revival and hope; the red color refers to the courage of their ancestors while the yellow colors points towards the on-going preservation of the wealth of the country.
