Smederevo is the administrative head quarters of Podunavlje District of Serbia. The geographical location of Smederevo city is 44.67? N and 20.93? E.
Situated on the banks of river Danube it has a population of roughly 78,000 comprising Serbs, Romanians, Montenegrins, Macedonians, Yugoslavs, Croats, Hungarians and others.

Smederevo in Serbia is famed for its steel industries. Areas around the city is famous for producing wines and fruits.

The Smederevo fortress was built by Djuradj Brankovic between 1428-1430, on the banks of the river Danube. It was built to resist Turkish invasion. The fortress was damaged severely during the Second World War.

The Jasenak Monastery in Smederevo belongs to the Orthodox School. Groups of children live here for 10 to 15 days during the summer months to take lessons.
