Jersey is a British Crown Dependency, officially known as the Bailiwick of Jersey. It is located off the coast of Normandy, France. Jersey is an island and has two groups of small islands, the Minquiers and Ecrehous, and the Pierres de Lecq. These islands are not permanently inhabited.

The national day of Jersey is celebrated on May 9. This day is celebrated as the Liberation Day; the day is celebrated to mark the end of the German occupation of the Channel Islands during the Second World War in 1945.
