The written history of the town of Trebic dates back to the 12th century when the monastery founded by the Benedictine Order was established in the year 1101. The town of Trebic has emerged as one of the primary centers of the Vysocina Region that upholds the culture, heritage and tradition of Czech Republic in the region. With a population of 40,000 people, Trebic is the center of administration and commerce in the region.

The town is located at a distance of 150 kilometers from the city of Vienna and 60 kilometers from the commercial city of Brno. The monumental and palatial structures of the town are reputed for their historical and architectural brilliance.

Built in the 13th century, the St. Procopus Basilica is one of the reputed structures built in the Gothic-Romanesque architectural style.
