Famagusta district has got two very famous tourist resorts: Protaras and Ayia Napa. Protaras is called the land of the windmills. If you want to get a view of the whole area you should go to the Prophet Elias, which is 100 meters high. This residential town has got its name from its location. It is located on the shores of a lake which contains water only during winter.

Famagusta of Cyprus has got another thing to explore and that is Sotira. The name is derived from the nearby church. The name of Liopetri village has got a different history. The name suggests there is no rock in this land. The rich culture of Famagusta includes singing, folk dancing, watermelon dancing etc. You can also visit the folk art museum as well as the Byzantine churches.
