Diversities also exist in the structure of a Chilean Family depending upon its origin. The families in Chile can be of various kinds due to the numerous ethnic groups existing in Chile.

The Chile families can be categorized into 9 origins:

The tradition in Chilean society is the system of joint or extended family. The recent change of trends from joint to nuclear families has been noticed at major parts of the country, yet they remain closely knitted to each member of the families. Children are very close to every sibling in the family and the adults spend enough of their leisure time with them. The weekends or vacations are generally spent in gathering at the house of relatives. It is a common instance to find children spending weeks and months for schooling in the house of relatives.

The families of Chile experiences ties, which make the bondage strong between the members and prove to be a strong backbone during the times of nuclear family crises. The close friendships between the parents and other Chilian families also make strange cordial relationships. The Chilean Family customs are very cordial and develop a cozy feeling right from the infancy.
