The Trinidad and Tobago flora shelters many plants from the neighboring country, Venezuela. The National Herbarium of the Trinidad Botanical Garden was established to preserve the plant species, which are old and rare. The plants maintained in this Herbarium started its collection hundred years back. Though there have been natural hardships and other obstacles yet the park has maintained its tradition. Today the park has a collection of 15,000 species of plants. Trinidad has a rich flora than Tobago. The Trinidad and Tobago geography has largely contributed to the rich Trinidad and Tobago flora.
