East Timor Children constitute more than sixty percent of the population of the country. East Timor Children have been greatly affected by the civil violence and political instability of the country and there are a lot of important issues which are related to them in the country and some of them are as follows:

The rate of employment of the young urban male population in Timor Leste is just 43 percent.
The various harmful diseases like malaria, respiratory problems and diarrhea pose a threat to the lives of the Timor Leste Children. Some of the other risks of health which affect them are contaminated drinking water, improper sanitation and inadequate nutrition. East Timor Children do not receive proper medical facilities and vaccination and immunization programs for them are less in number.
East Timor Children are also affected by the problem of education and the rate of literacy among them is quite low.
East Timor Children also face the problem of domestic violence and child abuse.

In order to prevent the above stated various kinds of problems the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund have started a number of programs to vaccinate children and supply them with the necessary drugs which is needed by them. The midwives have been properly trained so that safe deliveries can be conducted.
Some kinds of public campaigns on educational fields have been started by them so that the problems of HIV/AIDS, good food and malnutrition can be overcome.
A National Commission has been set up which caters to the various rights of the Timor Leste Children.
