Thame Nepal is the transit village for mountaineers and adventure seekers trying to climb and hopefully conquer Mount Everest. Thame in Nepal offers the weary visitor hot dinner and bed for a night in his arduous journey.
Thame first came into the limelight when a villager Tenzing Norgay helped a New Zealand mountaineer named Edmund Hillary scale the peak of Mount Everest. The landmark event changed the profile of the place. Many professional and amateur mountaineers from all over the world come to Thame in Nepal to try out their mountaineering skills against the cruelest mountain in the world. Sherpas form the native population of the village. Thame proudly plays home to Appa Sherpa- the only human being to conquer the peak of Mount Everest an astonishing 17 times.
