Panauti lies 32 km South East of capital city of Kathmandu. The town is situated at the confluence of two main rivers, Rosi and Panyamati, which lend Panauti an aesthetic appeal.
This place also has some of the very old temples of the country. These architectural monuments accompanied by scenic beauty draw thousands of tourists to Panauti of Nepal.

Reaching Panauti is not very difficult. There are regular flights from Kolkata, Mumbai, Varanasi, New Delhi and all the major airports across the world to Kathmandu. From India, Kathmandu can also be reached by road. By local transport like bus and taxis it only takes around 45 minutes to reach the place.

Accommodation is available in Panauti in Nepal. Hotel Panauti is a good place to stay over. There are also number hotels in the vicinity providing accommodation to tourists at reasonable prices.

The temples are all worth visiting. Most famous is Indreshwar temple. The Indreshwar temple is the oldest surviving temple in Nepal. The temple dates back to 1294 when it was built on a lingam. Being inspired by Pashipatinath Temple, this temple was built. The roof struts of the two stories bear marvelous masterpieces of Nepalese wood carving. Shiva represented in various forms is exquisitely curved. The figures are a beautiful blend of erotica and grace. Though damaged by earthquake, this temple still retains its beauty. Other famous structures include Brahmayani temple, inscriptions, sculptures and traditional houses of about 17th Century.
