Nuwakot Map

Nuwakot is the part of Bagmati zone in Nepal. Bidur is the headquarter of Nuwakot. Nuwakot is situated at an altitude of about 2790 ft above sea level. It is 75 km from North West Kathmandu.
The surrounding mountains give Nuwakot in Nepal, a picturesque view.

There are regular flights from New Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi, Kolkata, and all the major airports across the world to Kathmandu. Kathmandu can also be reached by road from India. There are state transport buses as well as cars linking various places within Nepal.

Nuwakot is not only famous for its scenic beauty but the historical importance it bears. Nuwakot was the capital of Nepal, around 200 years ago. Moreover, it still retains some of the old architectures which are worth having a look. One of the famous historical sites of Nepal, Prithvi Narayan Shah's abandoned fortress on a ridge near Trisuli, lies in Nuwakot of Nepal. A walk from Trisuli takes people to the fortress. The road is not however smooth. The fortress is lying in the right of the village consist of three brick towers. The tallest of the three is open to public view. The top floor window of the fortress encapsulates the panoramic view of Trisuli and Tadi valleys.

The two tiered Bhairavi Mandir is also famous place to visit. During the month Chaitra, that is, March- April in English calendar, Bhairavi Festival is held here. This draws many tourists from other places of Nepal as well as from adjoining countries.
