Banepa Map

Banepa is a small town situated in the kingdom of Nepal. The town of Banepa is also known by a couple of other names like Panepa and Banepa Bazar. Banepa in Nepal lies at 27° 37' 60
North latitude and 85° 31' 0 East longitude at an altitude of 1438 meters approximately.

The Banepa town is situated to the east of the Kathmandu Valley. It once enjoyed the glory of being the capital of the ancient Banepa kingdom that extended along the either banks of River Son Kosi. The chief source of revenue of the Banepa kings was trade. The Banepa kingdom served as a link in the trade route that had its end in Tibet. The Banepans captivated Chinese ambassadors on their way to meet the rulers of Nepal and pretending to be the rulers of the valley of Nepal succeeded in extracting lavish presents from the Chinese.

The dust covered modern highway that was constructed after the 1961 fire bears no testimony to the glorious history of the Banepa town. To the north of the Panaoti junction is a bazar with temples and traditional houses that constitute great tourist attractions of Banepi when travelers are on a tour to that region.

Some of the nearby towns and cities of Banepi are Lamadihi, Nagarkot, Bhaktapur, Sankhu, Dhulikhel, Panaoti and Lamadihi. The airports linking Banemi to the outside world are Tribhuvan International, Simara and Janakpur.
